Full Biography of Mildred Okwo

The famous Mildred Okwo is a Nigerian actress, film director and producer. She was born on the 29th of April, 1966. She was born with a birth mark called Taurus and bred in Lagos. While growing, she had the flare for acting right from her primary school stage. Mildred studied Theatre arts at University of Benin. She is also a former Los Angeles litigation lawyer. Mildred alongside eleven other Nollywood practitioners founded the Nigerian Oscars Selection Committee (NOSC) and was approved by the Academy of motion picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to screen Nigerian films to be submitted for the Foreign Language Film Category at the Academy Awards. Mind you, Mildred shot her first film 30 Days in 2005.

The movie titlesd "The Meeting was Mildred's 2nd film which topped box office of 2012 Nollywood films in the country. Okwo was named one of 50 Women Shaping Africa by Elle Magazine SA and 100 Most influential people in Nigeria In 2016. She is a founding member of the Nigerian Oscar Selection committee and was recently featured in a BBC documentary about female Film Directors in Nigeria. She was nominated for Best Director at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards for her work directing The Meeting. She has worked with actresses like Rita Dominic and Kate Henshaw. Shes known for her work on the films like 30 Days in 2006,The meeting in 2012 as well as Suru Lere in 2016, La Femme Anjola in 2021. The Nigerian Actress and film Director and Producer whose films have been nominated and won several prestigious awards in Africa including AMVCA, AMAA, NMA and "Publix du Prix" at Nollywood Paris.
