Swedish Scientist Advocates Eating Human Flesh To Fight Climate Change

Swedish scientist, Magnus Soderlund, has proposed Cannibalism as an unusual solution to fight climate change.

According to New York Post, Soderlund, a Stockholm School of Economics professor and researcher, said he believed that eating human meat, derived from dead bodies, might be able to help save the human race if only the world "awaken the idea."

 

Soderlund's canvassed his position at a panel talk called "Can You Imagine Eating Human Flesh?" at the Gastro Summit in Stockholm. He said "conservative" taboos against cannibalism can change over time if people simply tried eating human flesh.

When asked during an interview after his talk if he personally would try human flesh, Soderlund said he was open to the idea.

"I feel somewhat hesitant but to not appear overly conservative…I'd have to say…I'd be open to at least tasting it," he said.

He went on to suggest other options such as eating of pets and insects.

Meanwhile, a tribe in Papua New Guinea practised eating their dead as an alternative to allowing them to be consumed by worms, according to the Standard. The cultural practice led to an epidemic of a disease called Kuru, also known as laughing death.

The practice of cannibalism among the people of New Guinea came to an end in 1960.

18-year-old Elected Mayor Of US Community

An 18-year-old, Jaylen Smith, has been elected the mayor of Earle Arkansas in the United States of America.Smith, who just graduated from high school, won the election with 218 votes, compared to his competitor, Nemi Matthews Sr's 139 and he's being touted as the youngest Black mayor in the US by the American media.

Announcing his victory on Facebook, Smith said, "Citizens of Earle, Arkansas, it’s official!! In an interview with FOX13 revealed his goals for his town, saying, "First, I want to improve public safety here. Secondly, tear down abandoned houses… transportation here for the community, bring a grocery store here."

Mali targets ban on exportation of Cotton, constructs cotton spinning units with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes of cotton fiber to be transformed into net

Mali's Govt led by Colonel Assimi Göita have signed a memorandum of understanding on November 21, 2022 with China for the installation of two Cotton spinning units, one in the town of Koutiala and the other in Bamako the country's capital.The President of the Transition, HE Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, Head of State, AFRICAN REPORT FILES learnt three days after the signing of the protocol receives, this Friday, November 25, 2022, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Chen ZHIHONG, who accompanied a delegation of his country as part of the implementation of this project.

The first unit will be installed in Koutiala with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes of cotton fiber to be transformed into net. The second unit will be installed in Bamako with a capacity of 25,000 tons per year. This makes about 45,000 tons of cotton fiber.

The installation of the two factories will make it possible to create:

-5000 direct jobs

-50,000 indirect jobs

They will enable the processing of 30% of Malian production.

Mali is ranked, Africa's largest cotton producer produced 760,000 tonnes of cotton in the 2021/2022 cotton season.

It increased from 630,000 tons produced in 2020/2021.

Cotton is Mali's second biggest export commodity while Benin Republic is Africa's second largest producer of cotton with 714,000 tons in 2021/2022.

A team of Russian surgeons successfully removed a live grenade stuck in a soldier's body.The soldier, Nikolay Pasenko, had been turned into a ‘human bomb’ after been hit by a grenade which smashed through his rib cage, stayed trapped inside him but failed to detonate while fighting in Ukraine.

According to Daily Mail UK, the medical team wore body armour, because they knew the grenade could detonate during the surgery with devastating effects at such close quarters.Pasenko initially resisted surgery saying, “He did not want the doctors to suffer as the munitions could have exploded.”"The ammunition was located between the aorta and the inferior vena cava, It's not every day that you take an [explosive] out of a person, and in a place where moving to the right or left can lead to the death of the patient. When the ammunition ended up in a bucket of sand, everyone exhaled, smiled and laughed," one of the surgeon was reported to have said. 

Speaking after the surgery, Pasenko said, “I did not understand what happened. There was a blow to the edge of the armour and that was it. I did not lose consciousness - I just continued to move.”

Pasenko, who is a junior sergeant, was hit by a Ukranian projectile fired from an automatic grenade launcher.Russia's Defence Ministry confirmed the incident on Thursday.

US Varsity Expels Student Who Racially Abused Black Colleague

Sophia Rosing, who went viral for racially abusing a black student of the University of Kentucky in the United States of America, has been expelled.Rosing had been seen in a video captured on Sunday physically assaulting the black student and repeating racial slurs.

According to WKYT, the president of the university, Eli Capilouto sent a message out to the campus community on Wednesday, saying, “We have pledged to keep you informed regarding our response to the racist assault captured on video last Sunday on our campus.

"I want to emphasize that this behavior was disgusting and devastating to our community. We stand by our students who were targeted by this unacceptable hostility and violence.

“I write to provide an update on the incident. Ms. Rosing is no longer a student at the University of Kentucky.”

Rosing will also no longer be able to re-enrol in the university.

Ekweremadu’s Daughter In Court On Human Trafficking Charges

Sonia, the daughter of federal lawmaker, Ike Ekweremadu, on Monday appeared in court accused of trafficking a homeless man into the United Kingdom to harvest his organs for herself.According to Daily Mail, the younger Ekweremadu, was accused alongside her father Ike Ekweremadu, 60, her mother Beatrice Ekweremadu, 56, and 50-year-old doctor Obinna Obeta of conspiracy to arrange the travel of another person with a view to exploitation.

Russia suspends participation in Ukraine grain deal

Russia said on Saturday it was suspending its participation in the agreement that allowed grain exports from Ukraine, blaming alleged drone attacks on Russian ships in Crimea.“In light of the terrorist act carried out by the Kyiv regime with the participation of British experts against ships of the Black Sea fleet and civilian vessels involved in the security of grain corridors, Russia suspends its participation in the implementation of the agreement on the export of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports,” the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Telegram.

Michael Bloomberg to Trump: Stop Tweeting and Run the Government

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has some advice for how President Donald Trump can remove the cloud of the Russia investigation over his presidency.

"Stop tweeting and focus on running the government," Bloomberg said Tuesday on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360".

"If there's an allegation, you have to have a competent independent investigation that will either find something wrong or remove the cloud. It is very difficult to govern when there's a cloud around you."

The billionaire businessman argued that the President needs to "prove there's nothing there," adding that "you can't just say there's nothing there."

Clinton 'never got a real message out'

Bloomberg has been associated with both the Democratic and Republican parties, but now identifies as an independent.

"I didn't vote for Donald Trump, who is a very nice guy, but I don't think he's the right person to be President of the United States for a variety of reasons," Bloomberg said.

Speaking on whether the Democrats had a message for the 2020 presidential cycle, the former three-term mayor cited messaging.

"Hillary never got a real message out," Bloomberg said.
Clinton's message was "don't vote for that guy and the gender issue, whereas, Donald had a saying, 'make America great again,'" Bloomberg added. "I don't know what again means, but 'America.' That's patriotic. And 'great' -- that's a good word."

On the issue of climate change, Bloomberg said the President's refusal to acknowledge that it's real is "embarrassing."

 

 

"No reputable person or scientist doubts that we are creating an environmental and a climate change problem," Bloomberg said.

After President Trump pulled the United States out of the Paris Climate Agreement his charitable organization, Bloomberg Philanthropies announced it would put together $15 million to "support the operations" of the United Nation's Framework Convention on Climate Change, the arm of the UN that coordinates the Paris accord.

Bloomberg said, "Is it helpful that America pulls out and the President says these things?" No, it is not helpful. Is it a disaster for the world? No, it just makes us look foolish."
