Mayowa Akinfolarin has again empowered scores of farmers and youths in Agricultural equipment across the federal constituency.The timely empowerment and intervention according to beneficiaries is yet another among many facilitation and empowerment which have been done by the federal lawmaker.The facilitated and conjoined empowerment by Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, The Federal College Of Animal Health And Production Technology, Ibadan, and Ojidoe-Ligne Engineering Company LTD have put a smile and lasting memories as theconstituents of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo & Odigbo farmers went with Agro-chemicals, suckers and other farm products that will aid production in large scale and ease farmers of inaccessibility of those products as part of dividend earlier promised by the Federal lawmaker.In the flag-offf of the distribution of these materials which was held at the Odigbo Town Hall with the tittle 'Capacity Building & Employment Of Youths In AgriculturalValue Chain Across Ile-oluji/Okeigbo & Odigbo Federal Constituency, Ondo State', Honourable Commissioner for Rural and Urban Development, Hon. Amidu Takuro who was present at the empowerment program described Agriculture as a long practice which has been the life wire of society.He harped on his effort on strengthening the agricultural sector of the federal constituency for surplus agricultural produce and the meaningful life of farmers and youth in the federal constituency.In attendance at the flag-off and distribution of the materials are the representatives of Federal Colleges Of Animal Health and Production Technology, Ibadan, Dr O. J Banjoko, and Mr Adeyinka Julius who represented the Ojindo - Ligne Engineering Company LTD., *Honourable Commissioner for Rural and Urban Development, Hon. Amidu Takuro,Alhaji Fatai Olawale, Hon Robert Akinkunmi, Hon Oluborode among other All Progressive Congress Stalwart and Farmers leaders across the federal constituency.

Again, Reps Pass Bill establishing Peace Corps

The House of Representatives on Tuesday again, passed a bill to establish the Nigerian Peace Corps. Ondomind reports that the peace corps is meant to facilitate peace and the security of local communities and neighbourhoods.

Speaking on the Bill, Deputy Speaker of the House, Ahmed Idris Wase said the establishment of the Peace Corps would assist in promoting peace and security in the country.

It will be recalled that both chambers of the National Assembly had in 2017, passed the Nigerian Peace Corps Establishment Bill 2016.

But, President Muhammad Buhari withheld his assent to the Bill, saying there was no money for such an establishment and there was a duplication of functions of conventional security agencies

In July 2019, the Bill was reintroduced and re-gazetted as HB. 17.

It was sponsored by the Chief Whip, Hon. Tahir Monguno from Borno State.

In his lead debate, Mongunu cited Order 12, Rule 16 of the Standing Order of the House, which prescribed that a Bill passed by the previous Assembly, “upon being re-gazetted or clean copies circulated, be reconsidered in the Committee of the Whole without being commenced de-novo”.

Consequently, the lawmakers passed the bill after considering and adopting the report.

State Govt Empowers 50 Women With 2 Goats Each

Nasarawa State has empowered 50 female goatherds with 100 goats to enhance their economic independence and to contribute to the growth and development of the state.Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Aisha Rufa’i-Ibrahim, presented the goats to the beneficiaries in Lafia on Wednesday.

She said the gesture further demonstrated government’s determination to empower women to enhance their capacity and socio-economic statuses.

She explained that the empowerment became expedient after the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs had trained the women in animal husbandry in collaboration with the state government.

“On Oct. 14, all of you participated in training on animal husbandry to equip you with the knowledge and skills to rear and manage goats within your environment.

“After the training, the ministry felt it was necessary to support you to practice the knowledge and skills you acquired at the training,’’ she told the beneficiaries.

Rufa’i-Ibrahim said the state government was committed to ensuring the success of the programme and enjoined the beneficiaries to reciprocate government’s gesture by rearing the animals.

“This way, government will be encouraged to commit more resources to expand the programme so that others can benefit,’’ she said.

Canada To Welcome 465,000 Nigerians, Others As Permanent Residents In 2023 Amid Labour Shortage

The Canadian government has revealed its immigration plan to welcome half a million immigrants, including Nigerians, each year by 2025 to tackle the labour shortage.Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Sean Fraser released Canada’s 2023-2025 Immigration Levels Plan, which embraces immigration to help businesses find workers and attract the skills required in key sectors.

According to the new release from the immigration ministry, the Canadian economy is now facing critical labour market shortages causing uncertainty for Canadian businesses and workers.

The ambitious immigration plan will manage Canada’s social and economic challenges in the decades ahead.

In 2021 Canada welcomed over 405,000 newcomers, the most in a single year.

According to the plan, the government is continuing that ambition by setting targets in the new levels plan of 465,000 permanent residents in 2023, 485,000 in 2024, and 500,000 in 2025.
