Biography of Omolade Oyetundun
Popularly known as Lade, Omolade Oyetundun is the sonorous voice Behind the Popular Airtel '444' Advert and the “Adulthood na scam anthem”. She is a professional singer and songwriter based in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Released in 2020, the Airtel 444 advert jingle first caught the attention of Nigerians when it was used as a task during the Big Brother Naija Lockdown Season. At its release, many Nigerians thought that the song was done by Teni but it turned out to be false. This revealed Omolade's identity, shooting her to limelight.
Omolade Oyetundun is one of the finest voices that resonates in the country. As a fresh-woman in the Nigerian Music and Entertainment industry, she released her debut single titled Smoov Groove in late 2020. The song is currently used by the brand Smoov Chapman as their jingle. With a voice that hold’s one spellbound, Lade is one of the most respected emerging songsters.
A native of Kwara state, she was born on November 16th in the Mushin area of Lagos state. She attended Amazing Foundation Nursery and Primary School, Mbari Mbayo Secondary School, where she discovered her love and passion for music at the age of six.
Omolade grew up to study Mass Communication at the University of Ilorin. According to her, upon her admission to the University, she always wanted to perform to improve myself. In 2016, a friend of mine called Bakare Zainab, gifted a form to participate in UNILORIN IDOL. I entered the contest, made it to the finals without winning. Determined, in 2017, I competed and won.
In 2018, I auditioned for KWARA IDOL Season 1, and I emerged 4th. I wasn’t satisfied. So I went back into the competition in 2019. From the first day, I knew I was going to win, which I did. My journey went on a great trajectory when I decided It’s time for music professionally. So I started making deliberate moves and conscious efforts towards getting better. I was doing covers online, and I also worked at a lounge with a live band for a year in Ilorin despite being very young. I am very hungry for success. It’s an attitude that keeps me going to date.
If I am to describe myself, and my music, I will say, Lade, is not just the average artiste. I am the vibe, the mood muse, and the merchant of melodies. My personality says a lot about my music. I am a happy person, and I am quite emotional too. I love to have fun. So my genre of music is not stereotyped. I do a fusion of Afro-pop, highlife, RnB, and I can do other genres as well. It just all depends on my vibe. I am working on a whole lot of materials. I am taking the time to record some fantastic projects that would be coming out soon.
