Sierra Leone Minister of Tourism, Mrs Memunatu Pratt pledges support for KDEA Awards

The KDEA team Engaged the Honourable Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs on the planning of KDEA2019.

The CEO Sahr Eric Mbayo and Mariama Sia Mbayoh, Treasurer   for the Kono District Excellence Awards Arts and Entertainment Program, met with the Honourable Minister Of Tourism Madam Mrs Memunatu B. Pratt, yesterday at 4pm in her office at Kingharman Road, Freetown.

The CEO presented a comprehensive details of their last event in 2018 and informed the listening action result orientated Minister on the challenges they encountered. He also went on and informed the Minister on the increment of the award medals from 20 last year to 45 outstanding categories for this year's event in targeting the whole of Kono District, as KDEA set to celebrate All Works of Life of Kono people in all over the World for their tireless efforts in building their communities.

The early planning for KDEA2019 is because we want to avoid the few mistakes we made last year and try to work on most of them not to repeat on this year's program, said the CEO. We're also expecting international guests from America, Asia, Europe and part of Africa who are set to grace this year's event.

The Minister in her response, appreciated the team for a very laudable venture taken by these young folks who are mostly sons and daughters of Kono to revive the Kono cultural heritage and push the social life of the land not only within Sierra Leone but to the rest of Africa and the World. She told the team that she was well briefed on the outcome of the event by her then Permanent Secretary, Mr Gbetuwa. She assured the team of her support as a Minister to make 2019 event more bigger and better than last year. She advised the team on how to go about the planning more especially at this early stage. She asked the team to make a detail list of the pressing items needed and what they may want from these mobile companies, AYV and few other radio/tv stations including some cooperate institutions for sponsorship. We're set to get her confirmation as our Guest Speaker on this year's event, Said Mariama.

The meeting was very interactive with the Minster, pictures were taken and guess what was offered? Thank you Madam Minister, with a broad smile on Mariama's face.
