Greene Apaokagi Maryam Abisola, who is popularly and professionally known as Taaooma, is a Nigerian actor, comedian, Digital/Social Media Influencer, Content Creator, Cinematographer, and Entrepreneur.

Taooma

Taaooma was born on the 28th of February 1999 in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. 

An Entrepreneur, Taooma is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chop Tao, a food company, and directs for The Greenade Company, a cinematography firm. 

Growing up, Taooma attended the Dolastar Primary school, Adewole, Ilorin Kwara State. In 2009 however, Taaooma and her parents traveled out of Nigeria to Namibia,  a country in Southern Africa, where she attended the Amazing Kids Private School and Academy. She thereafter proceeded to Concordia College, Windhoek, Namibia where she completed  her secondary school education.

In 2015, Taooma returned to Nigeria and gained admission into Kwara State University Malate (KWASU), Ilorin, where she studied Tourism, Hospitality, and Travel Service Management. Taaooma became spotlighted in 2016 after her comedy videos started making waves on Instagram. Her video ideas come from everyday experiences with an African mother and child. She won the “Best Online Comedian of the Year” award at the Gage Awards, in 2019.  

Maryam Apaokagi spent most of her early years in Namibia. She studied Tourism and Travel Service Management at the Kwara State University. In 2022, she tells The Punch, “I wanted to be a doctor. Later, I changed it to a lawyer. I got to university and was offered Tourism.” 

In 2015, she started online comedy after convincing her fiancé to teach her the basics of video editing. She rose to stardom in 2019 with a skit based on African parents taking their children to school. In 2019, she was the face of Media Room Hub’s July Issue. Her comedy skits are centered on exposing African mothers and their unique manner of disciplining African children with a slap. 

Taooma is happily married to her heartthrob, Abdulaziz Oladimeji (aka. Abula). The duo got engaged in February 2020 in Namibia, and got married on 24th January, 2021. and welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in 2024. 

Recognitions, Nominations, and Awards

On 8 November 2020, she was part of The Future Awards Africa: Class of 2020 for the prize of content creation (YouTubers, Vloggers). Apaokagi also made The Guardian Nigeria’s list of 100 Most Inspiring Women in the country.
