I Will Use Obi’s Anambra Governance Model To Cut Costs – Abia Governor-Elect Otti

Abia State Governor-Elect, Alex Otti has said that he will run Peter Obi's model of governance in the state

I Will Use Obi’s Anambra Governance Model To Cut Costs – Abia Governor-Elect Otti

When asked if he will cut the cost of governance during Channels Television, Politics Today, he said, “Absolutely, I have time and time again, spoken out about cost of governance being a major problem in the country and it applies to the federal government as well as it applies to state governments and all the way to local governments.

“I believe that my presidential candidate [Peter Obi] did very well in Anambra because he reined in cost of governance and it's the same kind of model that we are going to run in Abia.

“There is only so many jobs you can create in the public sector. When you are appointing 12,000 personal assistants and special assistants, who basically don't have an office but collect money at the end of the month, you're just creating a problem for yourself.

“So, we are going to run a very lean government, we are going to cut our cloth according to our size, we believe that it is the private sector that should be supported to create jobs.

“Whatever it takes to support the private sector, we will do exactly that.

“We are not going to run a bogus government, we are not going to get ourselves involved in very high cost of travels.”

Peter Obi: Why I Denied Labour Party the Use Of Stadium In Edo – Obaseki

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Friday defended his government’s decision not to approve the use of the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium for a Labour party rally in the state.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the Governor said the notice for approval arrived too late.

Mr Obaseki said the government received notice 24 hours to the event.

“The tracks for that stadium are still under warranty,” he said. “The pitch has to be maintained in a certain mould. So it’s not just another facility you can use without preparing.”

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Obaseki’s party, had used the stadium for a rally on October 22.

He said the PDP met the conditions for approval before using the stadium.

“And the only reason why we allowed the PDP rally was because it was also used as an opportunity to commission that facility. Otherwise most other rallies are held in other large grounds around the city.”

Labour Party Is Not Broke, Just Needs Support To Fund Obi's Campaign - Julius Abure

Labour Party Is Not Broke, Just Needs Support To Fund Obi's Campaign - Julius Abure

"At a well attended inauguration of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on Friday, The importance of campaign funding and the need for collaboration with stakeholders, particularly the candidates of the party at various levels was extensively spoken on by me.

"More  emphasised was also laid on the fact that our presidential candidate alone, Peter Obi cannot fund the election as he is known to be someone who never engaged in the gluttonic acquisition of our common patrimony in his days as a public servant.

"However , the news making the round that I said that Labour Party is broke 24 hours to our campaign was reported out of context, hence the need to put the records straight.

"What I said is that presidential election is very expensive and the presidential candidate alone will not be able to shoulder all the expenses and that we will therefore be needing collaboration from all candidates of the party and all well-meaning Nigerians too."

2023: Peter Obi Has Already Won The Election- Kenneth Okonkwo Affirms

2023: Peter Obi Has Already Won The Election- Kenneth Okonkwo Affirms

A Chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Kenneth Okonkwo is of the opinion that his party’s presidential flagbearer, Mr Peter Obi, has already won the 2023 presidency race.

While appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the actor turned politician said the election is between Mr Obi and others, adding however, that statistics on ground already suggest that the former governor of Anambra State has already won the election.

When asked if the LP presidential candidate can really win the election, Mr Okonkwo said Peter Obi has displayed an uncanny character and has shown that he has the capacity to serve the nation as an impactful leader.

He said, “He has already won, check the analysis like I have always told you; take it by polls, there are three polls that have come out, ANAP, We-Together and Bloomberg; in the first one he scored 23, in the second one 53 and in the third one he scored 75.

“Soon and very soon, before the election reaches when the two candidates will unravel and I am sure they are already unravelling, then it will now be Peter Obi and others.

“Because then collectively at the polling poll, they will not have up to five per cent and whenever you don’t get up to five per cent you’ll be classified as others.

“So it is going to be Peter Obi and others, there is no other candidate."

How Buhari Borrowed Nigeria Into Bondage – Kenneth Okonkwo Reveals

How Buhari Borrowed Nigeria Into Bondage – Kenneth Okonkwo Reveals

Nollywood actor and spokesman for the Labour Party presidential campaign, Kenneth Okonkwo, has expressed concern over the level of borrowing the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government gave way to.

Okonkwo made the remarks on Monday, during an interview on National TV Show.

Okonkwo who announced his exit from APC in July said, “I’ve already ruled out the failures of APC so I rejected APC when I was in APC. I never agreed to pay their nomination fee because I believed that it was a result of corrupt tendencies.

“For you to tell a man to pay a nomination fee an amount that four years of his salary cannot cover and you are telling me you are fighting corruption, which corruption? Why do you think people are stealing 109 billion Naira in an APC-led government, the person that is supposed to guard it, they need to have such money because even if you want to contest, they’ll be asking you for billions to contest.

“So I rejected APC while I was in APC but you have to wait for an alternative, for another option, that will accommodate your own beliefs and remember, I resigned from APC before talking about any other party and when I saw a new Nigeria about to emerge from Labour Party, what I have prayed, what I wished for.

“It was only natural that I gravitated around it and that was what happened. So I was very sentimentally attached to the redemption of this country and I really thought that APC was going to provide that.

“When President Muhammadu Buhari was a military head of state, you know what happened? He was paying our debt with crude oil and people said he maintained his own salary. Look at what is happening now. He has borrowed us into bondage, their debt cannot even be serviced by the entire revenue.”

The Labour Party’s senatorial candidate in Ebonyi South, Hon. Linus Okorie Arrested, Check Why

Hon. Linus Okorie

The Police have stated that the Labour Party’s senatorial candidate in Ebonyi South, Hon. Linus Okorie has been arrested for utterances that incited violence in the state.

Following the sudden disappearance of the former lawmaker representing Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State, there were reports that he was kidnapped on Sunday night.

But the police authorities in the state dismissed the claims in a statement issued on Monday, saying the politician has questions to answer having evaded arrest previously.

Police Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi State, Chris Anyanwu, said Okorie was traced to the head office of the Ebubeagu security outfit at the old Government House.

“Police detectives were briefed on why he was arrested which includes; his activities and utterances that incited and provoked the violence that engulfed Onicha LGA which led to suspected IPOB/ESN operatives or unknown gunmen to unleash mayhem in the area, leaving seven (7) persons dead at the end of that fracas.  Hence, the case has now been taken over by the Police Command for a scrupulous investigation,” the statement read.

“Hon Linus Abaa Okorie was severally invited by the Security and Intelligence Bureau of the Command over a petition dated 23/3/2022, authored by the state’s Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice, alleging that he was spreading fake news against Engr Dave Umahi accusing the Governor of illegally withdrawing #6.7 billion from State Government’s Account to fund the Appeal Court Judgment against his removal from office, etc.”
