Security Vote Is A Fraud - Kwankwaso

Security Vote Is A Fraud - Kwankwaso

The presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, yesterday said the security vote was a means to siphon money and perpetrate corruption in government.

He said if he becomes the president, his administration will not take a dime as security vote.

The NNPP presidential candidate spoke yesterday at the Channels Television Town Hall event, during which he addressed several issues.

He said while he was the governor of Kano, he did not take a dime as a security vote, adding that those who draw public funds under the guise of a security vote were actually ripping the public off.

He said: “For the eight years I was a governor, I didn’t take a dime as a security vote, though I inherited a government that believed in that. What I did was to listen to the security challenges from Commissioner of Police and if he or she successfully defended it, I took it to the council for approval.

“Security vote in my own opinion is a big way of stealing money and that was why I didn’t do it as a governor. If I have the opportunity again, there will be nothing like the security vote in the presidency.

“We have seen cases where a lot of funds were been stolen under the guise of security votes and in my opinion, I think that should be stopped.”

I Sold My Properties To Give Students Scholarship – Kwankwso

I Sold My Properties To Give Students Scholarship – Kwankwso
Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwakwaso

The presidential candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso disclosed he sold some of his properties so he could provide scholarships for students in Kano State, Nigeria and Africa.

He stated this yesterday at a colloquium organised in his honor by the Kwankwasiyya Movement in collaboration with Scholars Assembly and other Kwankwasiyya organizations in Abuja.

Kwankwanso added that after he left office as governor, he has sold off things that serve no need so he could provide students with scholarships.

“The scholarship beneficiaries, especially the three thousand of them who benefited in four years, I’m so happy and very proud of all of you. Many of them wanted to come.

“I’m happy to say that in the 1999 election in Kano, we had no governor, no minister, no serving or former member. We had just these young men and women and we were able to win our election for the governorship.

“And that was why I was encouraged them by creating the scholarship scheme for our young minds. When we advertise in 2019, believing that there are few people who are first class, we exhausted them in Kano. Second class upper we exhausted them. We were on two to second class lower levels when I left government in 2015 and that is one.

“We had over 3000of them going to 14 countries across the world. I’m also happy that we sponsored students in Nigeria private universities in Nigeria. More than 412 benefited and over 3000 were sent abroad. They are in different sets all sponsored by the Kwankwasiyya foundation,” Kwankwanso said.

“I felt the best investment for any politician is education because I was trained in Kano, in northern Nigeria. And Nigeria can only grow if we have educated people. When I was governor,  we were able to feed our children in primary schools, return them to school."
