Abayomi Adeola Della, Celebrates Birthday in Orphanage

On Sunday, 23rd August, Life coach, Adeola Abayomi Della hosted children of the Covenant Orphanage Home to a party in celebration of her 22nd birthday.

The party which held following the COVID-19 guidelines was sponsored by friends and family to ensure that the children, who have been at the home since the pandemic, were brought under an atmosphere of love and extreme happiness.

According to her, the promotion of love and sharing culture amongst individuals has dropped in recent times, especially as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the reason why she organised a party for the home, giving gifts and food items.

She further noted that happiness levels for various individuals have reduced drastically, coupled with high depression rates. For children, it could generate some boredom and influence social life negatively. 

Malaysian finance ministers have embroiled themselves in fresh circles of corruption .

On Tuesday, a second row of accusations of government corruption broke out in Malaysia following a former Tengku Abdul Aziz Finance Minister requesting that the administration of Eng comply with government contracts inappropriately.



"I dare him reveal something to the Rakyat (Parliament of Malaysia) to evaluate/compare which company has successfully received an invitation to tender, which company has received the tender and which minister applied for projects via direct negotiations."



On Monday before Parliament, Mr Aziz made the allegations that the contracts are worth Ringgit (or 1,58 billion dollars) worth 6,61 billion.

In March after the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan (Hope Alliance) alliance, Mahathir Mohamad resigned as prime minister, he took over as Malaysian finance minister.



Since then, Mr Eng, Minister of Finance of Mahathir, has been charged with corrupting the construction, from Penang Island to Malaysian mainland, of an underwater tunnel.



The allegations date from his time as Chief Minister of the Local Government of Penang between 2008 and 2012.



Nevertheless, Mr Eng denied the allegations he said were motivated politically.



The short-lived Pakatan Harapan government took on the duties of a former Prime Minister, Najib Razak who was jailed for twelve months in July after the elections of May 2018, in part because of allegations of corruption.



After the collapse of the Mahathir-led coalition in February, Mr Razak 's allies returned to power.

TLA Africa Launches Women In Leadership Scholarship, Seeks Women Representation

 

 

The Learnaholics Academy (TLA) Africa has launched its Women in Leadership Scholarship for Young African Women. It is a fully funded and strict application scholarship program for Young African Women who are passionate about learning, growing and leading.

According to Deborah Benjamin, Spokesperson of the Women In Leadership Scholarship Board and Director, TLA School of Leadership in her welcome address during an online Press Briefing to highlight the purpose of the program, the prospects for African women and the society and the progress in planning, she mentioned that the Women In Leadership Program is an highlight of the School of Leadership, a subset of The Learnaholics Academy.

The programme was birthed to raise African women who are inspired, knowledgeable and passionate enough to take on Leadership roles in the social and corporate space as well as represent the female gender equally in all sectors of Impact and development.

It is an annual conference that trains women who are 18 years and above from across Africa, on corporate governance, Community Leadership and pro-activity.

The program is scheduled to hold for five weeks in a closed WhatsApp group and facilitated by seasoned Social Entrepreneurship and Leadership Coaches and experts.

The Learnaholics Academy is a personal and professional development oriented institution, established to raise the bar in helping people create  values that shall propel their personal and professional life. The  Academy adopts both physical and electronic classroom learning mechanisms to accommodate prospective  students far and near. The Women In Leadership program was proposed on the 1st April 2020 and was subjected to scrutiny until it was approved for implementation. The Academy's Centre for Counselling and Human Development (CCHD) and the School of Leadership was directed to manage the program until a Board was formed on the 8th of April 2020 to manage the program.

The Board is an 11-man membership with 7 females and 3 males. According to Mr Tunbosun, the females serve the Implementation unit of the Board while the Males Monitor and Evaluate its activities

The members of the Board are Abimbola Dasola (Board Chairperson), Abayomi Adeola (Deputy Board Chairperson), Adeleye Deborah (Board Secretary-General) and Benjamin Deborah (Board Spokesperson). Other Distinguished Members of the Implementation Unit of the Board are Faith, Adeosun Eniola Mary and Doherty Precious.

According to reports from the press briefing, E-application forms for the Scholarship opened from 13th May - 23rd May 2020 and later extended it till 7th June 2020 with applications from across the continent including Africans in Diaspora. Applications were recorded from countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Trinidad and Tobago, Republic of Benin, Afghanistan, Netherlands, Bangladesh, among others with about 75% of the application from Nigeria.

In review of the application results, 49% of the applicants hold leadership positions, 49.8% of the applicants do not hold leadership positions (but plan to) and only 1.2% of the applicants do not hold a leadership position and do not plan to.

A deeper review of applications shows that, most women in leadership are not necessarily there because they want to, many of them just want to prove the male wrong about their perception of them in leadership while some just want to challenge the status quo. Also, the fear of discrimination holds many of them back from attempting leadership in a male-dominated society.

According to Mr Olalekan Olatunbosun, ''it is hoped that at the end of the program, a non-toxic confidence is instilled in them to build effective leadership consciousness in them.''

The Director also mentioned that the training content was designed to visit the history of black women in leadership and peculiar problems they have faced as these problems are intertwined in contemporary leadership efforts of women, 

The women in leadership Scholarship will also cover Business,  Politics,  and other areas women can be adopted into leadership.

TLA Africa started in September 1st 2017 with over 3,000 students and have organized several trainings and certified about 289 persons with Certificate on Proficiency. About 418 persons have received badges and certificate of participation in various short crash courses. The organisation has also organized physical trainings at Ijebu Ode, Ago Iwoye, Ile Ife, Ifo and Lagos while her online classroom is specially hosted at www.thelearnaholicsacademy/eclassroom for global participation.

Erectile dysfunction: an overview

When
men become sexually aroused, hormones, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels all
work with one another to create an erection. Nerve signals, sent from the brain
to the penis, stimulate muscles to relax. This in turn, allows blood to flow to
the tissue in the penis.

Once
the blood fills the penis and an erection has been achieved, the blood vessels
to the penis close off so that erection is maintained.

Erection
problems occur when you can’t achieve or maintain an erection that is firm
enough to have sexual intercourse. This can be called; erectile dysfunction,
impotence or sexual dysfunction. For most men, these problems occur
occasionally and aren’t a serious problem but if it occurs at least 50% of the
time, you might require medical attention.

 

Symptoms of erectile dysfunction

• Being able to get an erection sometimes,
  but not every time you want to have sex.
• Being able to achieve an erection, but not
  having it last long enough for sex
• Being unable to get an erection at any

Common causes of erection dysfunction

Causes
of erectile dysfunction can be classified into physical cause, psychological
cause or both.

Physical cause:

They
occur because of disorders that affect the nerves and blood vessels responsible
for causing an erection. They include:

• Spinal cord injury
• High blood pressure
• High cholesterol: this increase the risk
  of atherosclerosis where the arteries become narrowed and clogged, resulting in
  impaired blood flow. When this happens to the arteries in the penis, it can
  prevent enough blood from reaching the penis to create erection.
• Diabetes: raises risk of erectile
  dysfunction threefold by its effect on nerves and blood vessels.
• Obesity
• Alcoholism
• Atherosclerosis (hardening of the
  arteries)
• Certain medications such as
  antihypertensive drugs (e.g. beta blockers, diuretics), antidepressants, muscle
  relaxers etc.
• Substance abuse: causes damage to the
  blood vessels including those that supplies the penis.
• Long term use of tobacco
• Prostate problems.

Psychological causes:

These
are emotional issues and include:

• Low self-esteem.
• Worry (especially worry over not being
  able to achieve and maintain an erection)
• Prolonged emotional distress relating to
  economy, professional or social issues.
• Relationship conflicts
• Depression: this can cause lack of

DIAGNOSING ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

Testing
for erectile dysfunction can involve a variety of steps, including physical

How sugar is killing your sex life

 “Men with blood sugar imbalances have trouble
getting or maintaining erections”, says Mark Hyman, MD. Research has even shown

High blood pressure: Facts You need to know

Hypertension, also known
as high blood pressure, is a long-term medical condition in which the blood
pressure in the arteries is persistently elevated. However, this is a major
risk factor for coronary artery disease, stroke, heart failure, arterial
fibrillation, peripheral arterial disease, vision loss and chronic kidney
disease.

High blood pressure is
usually classified as primary or secondary hypertension. About 90-95% of cases
are primary. Primary hypertension is usually defined as high blood pressure due
to nonspecific lifestyle and genetic factors while the secondary hypertension
is defined as high blood pressure due to identifiable cause, such as chronic
kidney disease, narrowing of the kidney arteries, etc.

Measurement
of blood pressure

Blood pressure is
expressed by two measurements, the systolic and diastolic pressures, which are
the maximum and the minimum pressures respectively.

Blood pressure measurement.
	Normal (at rest)	Abnormal
Systolic	100-130 (mmHg)	>130 (mmHg)
Diastolic	60-80 (mmHg)	>80 (mmHg)

Note that these
measurements might slightly be higher or lower depending on geographical
locations. Also, different numbers apply to children.

Signs
and symptoms

Hypertension is rarely
accompanied with symptoms, and it’s usually identified through screening. Some
people with high blood pressure usually report symptoms such as:

• Headaches (particularly at the back of the
  head and in the morning)
• Lightheadedness
• Vertigo (when a person has the sensation
  of moving, or seeing surrounding objects which are not moving as though they
  were moving)
• Tinnitus (buzzing or hissing in the ear)
• Altered vision or fainting episodes.

Hypertensive
crisis

This
is a condition in which the blood pressure is severely elevated (equal to or
greater than 180mmHg (systolic) and 110mmHg (diastolic)). It may either involve
damage to some organs including the brain, kidney, heart and lungs resulting
from elevated blood pressure (hypertensive emergency) or not (hypertensive
urgency).

Causes

The causes of high blood
pressure will be classified based on the two types of hypertension.

     For primary hypertension, causes include:

• Age
• Environmental factors such as location and
  weather condition.
• High salt intake
• Lack of exercise
• Central obesity
• High consumption of caffeine

For secondary
hypertension (high blood pressure resulting from identifiable cause), causes
may include:

• Kidney disease (the most common cause of
  secondary hypertension)
• Cushion’s syndrome, or acromegaly, or
  other endocrine conditions.
• Obesity
•  Pregnancy
• Sleep apnea etc.

Prevention
of hypertension.

Lifestyle changes are
recommended for the prevention of hypertension. An outline with the proposed lifestyle
changes by the US National High Blood Pressure Education Program for the
primary prevention of hypertension:

• Maintain normal body weight for adults (body
  mass index between 20-25kg/m²)
• Reduction in dietary sodium intake
• Engage in regular aerobic physical activity
  such as brisk walking (for at least 30min per day for most days of the week)
•  Limit alcohol consumption
• Consume diets rich in fruits and
  vegetables.

Management
of hypertension.

Management
of high blood pressure is targeted towards lowering the blood pressure and
keeping it within normal range and also prevention of possible complications
that might arise from the condition. The management approach to hypertension
involves:

Lifestyle
modification: this is the first line of treatment of
hypertension. This includes:

Dietary
changes: diets with low sodium, vegetarian diets and green tea
consumption. Also increasing dietary potassium intake has potential to lower
the blood pressure. Adopting a dietary pattern such as DASH diet or
Mediterranean diet. The DASH diet is the most suitable. DASH diet means Dietary
Approaches to Stop Hypertension. It is a simple diet and can be easily followed
and it entails that you:

Ø Eat
more fruits, vegetables and cow fat dairy foods

Ø  Cut
back on foods that are high in saturated fats, cholesterol and trans fats

Ø  Eat
more whole grain foods, fish, poultry and nuts

Ø  Limit
sodium, sweets, sugary drinks and red meats.

 

Physical
exercise: such as isometric resistance exercise, aerobic
exercise, etc.

medications of various classes are available for the management of the
