TG Omori said, "I desperately need to meet that guy that sang that 'Shey you Dey whine me' song. That song deserves a TG OMORI video cos what?!!!"

The song was by Austine Emmanuel and the 'Shey you dey whine me?' line has caught the attention of people on social media, making it a viral sound.

Twitter plans to start charging nearly $20 a month for users to stay verified

This is part of a premium service that will be rolled out under Elon Musk’s leadership, according to a report. "The whole verification process is being revamped right now," Musk, who took over as the CEO of the social media platform Friday, October 28, tweeted Sunday, October 30.

The company also plans to raise its optional $4.99-a-month premium subscription called Twitter Blue to $19.99 a month. However, that price is subject to change, The Verge reported, citing internal correspondence and people familiar with the matter.

Twitter will add more features, including verification, to bring its subscription up to par with the cost hike.

Elon Musk plans to make verified users pay money to keep their verified status.

Existing verified users have 90 days to subscribe to the new Twitter Blue after its launch or they’ll lose their blue checkmarks, according to The Verge.

The current Twitter Blue launched about a year ago and offers subscribers a way to view ad-free articles from some publishers as well as additional customization settings.

Musk has been outspoken about his desire to grow subscription numbers to account for half of Twitter’s revenue as well as his eagerness to overhaul the platform’s verification process.

My fiancé hasn't dropped any money – Nigerian lady calls off wedding 3 days to the day

A Nigerian lady identified as Kemi says she has canceled her wedding due to her fiancé’s failure to release funds for the planning.She said that since he engaged her and fixed a date for the wedding, she’s been handling all expenses because he has not dropped any money towards the wedding arrangement.

She announced the cancellation just three days to the wedding, mentioning her fiance’s nonchalant attitude as the main reason for her action.

According to Kemi, he told her that his money is in fixed deposit and offered to refund her everything that she spent.

She, however, said she visited a counselor and made a decision to cancel the wedding, though she is not confident that she made the right decision.

Kemi wrote; ”Just called off my wedding because of my fiancé nonchalant attitude. This guy hasn’t dropped one penny and wedding is in 3days, he keeps saying his money is in fixed deposit and that he will refund me. Spoke to a counselor and decided to call it off. Hope I did the right thing.”

AMVCA 2022: Full List of Award Winners

The grand finale of AMVCA 2022 (Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards) eighth edition which was held at the Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos has ended in glamour and style. The award show kicked off on Sunday, May 8 with series of event consisting of fashion runaway show, content creators brunch, young film makers day, culture and food festival day.

The grand finale was hosted by IK Osakioduwa and South Africa’ Bonang Matheba. AMVCA is a yearly gathering of industry professionals and lovers of African movies and television. 

 

In this 8th Edition, Nigerian actress, Osas Ighodaro won the Best Dressed Female at the event, while Best Dressed Male was Denola Grey, each going home with a cash price of N500,000. Also, Pascal Aka and Raquel from the movie ‘Gold Coast Lounge’ won the Best Soundtrack category walking away with one million Naira.

Nigerian actress, producer, Teniola Aladese won the Trailblazer award, going home with a cash price of One Million Naira, and also an extra gift of $2,000 dollars from the Hollywood star, Tasha Smith.

NELOC Media Publish Pidgin Magazine, Seeks to Promote Pure Pidgin Content

World over, pidgin English varies in the nature of people who speak it and how they do. On Friday, NELOC Media, publishers of the Gbedu Magazine unveiled the maiden edition of her basic pidgin magazine project. The pidgin magazine was published to celebrate and promote the existence of pidgin language in Nigeria and across the world.

According to the production team, the magazine editor, explained that  subsequent editions would cover exclusive pidgin stories and journalism in native pidgin. He also expressed the need for writers and arts inclined individuals to join in coming editions. The producers further disclosed intentions to engage disruptive pidgin contents covering fashion, music and lifestyle amongst others.

Sierra Leone Minister of Tourism, Mrs Memunatu Pratt pledges support for KDEA Awards

The KDEA team Engaged the Honourable Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs on the planning of KDEA2019.

The CEO Sahr Eric Mbayo and Mariama Sia Mbayoh, Treasurer   for the Kono District Excellence Awards Arts and Entertainment Program, met with the Honourable Minister Of Tourism Madam Mrs Memunatu B. Pratt, yesterday at 4pm in her office at Kingharman Road, Freetown.

The CEO presented a comprehensive details of their last event in 2018 and informed the listening action result orientated Minister on the challenges they encountered. He also went on and informed the Minister on the increment of the award medals from 20 last year to 45 outstanding categories for this year's event in targeting the whole of Kono District, as KDEA set to celebrate All Works of Life of Kono people in all over the World for their tireless efforts in building their communities.

The early planning for KDEA2019 is because we want to avoid the few mistakes we made last year and try to work on most of them not to repeat on this year's program, said the CEO. We're also expecting international guests from America, Asia, Europe and part of Africa who are set to grace this year's event.

The Minister in her response, appreciated the team for a very laudable venture taken by these young folks who are mostly sons and daughters of Kono to revive the Kono cultural heritage and push the social life of the land not only within Sierra Leone but to the rest of Africa and the World. She told the team that she was well briefed on the outcome of the event by her then Permanent Secretary, Mr Gbetuwa. She assured the team of her support as a Minister to make 2019 event more bigger and better than last year. She advised the team on how to go about the planning more especially at this early stage. She asked the team to make a detail list of the pressing items needed and what they may want from these mobile companies, AYV and few other radio/tv stations including some cooperate institutions for sponsorship. We're set to get her confirmation as our Guest Speaker on this year's event, Said Mariama.

The meeting was very interactive with the Minster, pictures were taken and guess what was offered? Thank you Madam Minister, with a broad smile on Mariama's face.

Patoranking was Arrested At Airport In Uganda

The singer who arrived Uganda yesterday was arrested at Entebbe International Airport for failure to adhere to check in rules.

“He failed to adhere to check-in rules
and above all he had not secured his entry visa,” said the source who was at the Airport yesterday.

The source further said that Patoranking thought he was too ‘big’ and he would receive VVIP treatment upon arrival.

“He was just told to remove his cap for security check-up but he chose not to listen to instructions. He was denied entry and arrested for disobeying lawful check in orders.”

Patoranking who arrived at the Airport at around 16:00hrs, was detained for over 7 hours.
After countless times of apologising and begging, Patoranking was later released and granted entry visa.

Trying to show that he is a known celebrity, Patoranking first refused to accept entry visa saying he was disrespected and harassed by immigration officers.

Patoranking was in Uganda to market his latest music album titled ‘God over everything’.

The singer after being released moved to his hotel where he proceeded to address journalists.

Former DFB president had just been banned from football for a year

Wolfgang Niersbach, the former president of the German FA (DFB), has been banned from
all football-related activity for one year.

A Fifa ethics committee found the 65-year-old failed to report possible misconduct concerning the awarding of the 2006 World Cup. Investigators had sought a two-year ban.
Germany beat South Africa 12-11 in the vote, which took place in July 2000.
Niersbach resigned from his DFB role in November last year.

He quit - citing "political responsibility" - amid allegations a £4.9m payment to Fifa was used to buy votes for Germany's successful World Cup bid.

That payment resulted in German authorities opening a tax evasion investigation, but Niersbach - who is also a Fifa executive committee member - said at the time he had always worked "cleanly".

In a statement, the Fifa panel said it had not looked into possible breaches of its code of ethics "in relation to possible acts of bribery and/or corruption", and had "only evaluated Mr Niersbach's awareness of the said incidents".
