Atiku, Obi, Sowore, Shittima And Others Sign Peace Accord

Presidential candidates during the signing of peace accord


Ahead of the 2023 Presidential Election, some presidential candidates and chairmen of the 18 registered political parties have signed the Peace Accord held at the International Conference Centre (ICC) for the 1st signing of the National Peace Accord.


Among those at the venue include PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party, Peter Obi, AAC Party, Omoyele Sowore, New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPPC), Senator Rabiu Kwanwaso, while Tinubu was represented by his Vice President, Kashim Shettima. 


The APC presidential candidate, Tinubu is currently in the UK where he is meeting with some unnamed groups.


The peace accord is organised by the National Peace Committee headed by former Nigerian Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar and Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.




The initiative was conceived in 2014 in response to emerging threats occasioned by the 2015 general elections.


According to the former military ruler, who chairmans the signing, he said the one to be signed on Thursday is to ensure rancour-free and a fair campaign devoid of acrimony while the other one on the accepting the outcome of the result will be signed in January, 2023.
