Up on the hills
Picking up the stones at will
I was caught by the breeze
Blowing my "buba" and causing my body to freeze
Far away; far far away
I heard the beats of the drum coming my way
Something in me began to dance
And everyone wanted to have a glance
I thought I was the only one feeling it..
Not until I saw everyone already making a feast
High on the mountain
I was scared to be certain
That even the birds were happy
And the air was flashy
Deep in the sea
Even the fishes were so much at peace
And the joy could not be seized
Everyone came around
And danced to the "bata" sound
I was caught at my face
And everyone began to gaze
We danced to our culture
That even our dead heritage can nurture
The "bata" drum brings happiness
Remembering our forgotten heritage brings gladness
We danced the dance of victory
Because people are bringing back our history
We moved up together again
And at that spot,we forgot our pain
"Bata" that reminds us of our source
The Yoruba source
Together....YORUBA SHALL RISE AGAIN
