Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN was born on 21st of July 1956 in Owo to Reverend J. Ola Akeredolu of the Akeredolu family and Lady Evangelist Grace B. Akeredolu of the Aderoyiju family of Igbotu, Ese Odo, in Ondo State.

Akeredolu started his primary education at Government School, Owo. He proceeded to Aquinas College, Akure, Loyola College, Ibadan and Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, for his secondary school education and Higher School Certificate, respectively. He attended the Loyola College in Ibadan before he proceeded to the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) to study Law, graduating in 1977.

In the University of Ile-Ife, his outstanding leadership capabilities soon came into fore spurring him to engage in the politics and governace of the student union at that time. He was elected as the vice-president of the student union, University of Ile-Ife in the 1975/1976 academic session.

Upon graduation, he was called to the Nigerian Bar 1978 where he meritoriously served the Nigerian Bar Association in various capacities at both the state and national levels. The record of his immense service spans almost three decades. Aketi was the secretary general of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan branch from 1985 to 1986. He has been a member of the National Executive Council of the NBA from 1985 till date.

He served as the publicity secretary during the regime of late Alao-Aka Bashorun. A period considered as the golden era of the bar (1988 till 1989). He was also a member of the legal aid council from 1989 till 1991. He became the vice-chairman of the Ibadan branch in 1991 and subsequently, the chairman between 1992 and 1994. He first became a member of the body of benchers at the same time (1997 till 1999) and was subsequently re-appointed in 2006. He remains a member till date.

Aketi, as he is fondly called, was appointed Attorney General of Ondo State from 1997–1999. In 1998, he became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He embarked on far-reaching reforms as the state's Attorney General. Some of his achievements are still visible in the state judiciary till date.
He was Chairman of the Legal Aid Council (2005–2006).
Aketi was conferred the prestigious title of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria in the year 1998.
Perhaps, what stands out as the highest point of achievement at the bar was his election, unopposed as the president of the Nigerian Bar Association.

Aketi forced himself to the consciousness of the entire country and beyond through what has become his trademark; unyielding opposition to bad governance. He was a member of the governing council, Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies between 2008 and 2010, a member of council of legal education, a member of council, International Bar Association and Pan African Lawyers Union during the same period.

He currently serves as NBA representative in the National Judicial council. A devout christian, he is the chancellor of the Anglican church, Owo diocese.

Aketi is a recipient of myriads of awards including the Obafemi Awolowo University Alumni Association Merit Award, 1995; The NBA award of recognition on the conferment of the SAN title in 1998; Loyola College Old Boys Association Merit Award, 1995; Sportwriters' association Merit Award as a legal adviser, 1995; the Sportwriters' association Merit Award as a patron, 1998 and the Qatari bar assocation award among other numerous awards.

In a lecture in December 2009, Akeredolu said no amount of electoral reform or judicial system could give Nigeria free and fair elections, if Nigerians themselves refused to take practical steps to ensure that their votes count.
In 2012, the Nigerian Bar Association named its new secretariat in Abuja after him with its president citing the reason being the need for "generational identification and recognition of those who had contributed immensely to the development of the association.

In an undying quest to serve his fatherland, he initially entered into the governorship race in Ondo state under the flagbearership of the then Action congress of Nigeria now nomenclatized as the All Progressive Congress in the year 2013.
Due to his tenaciuos and selfless nature, he again entered into the gubernatorial race for the second time in the year 2016 under the flagbearership of the All Progressive Congress and on Sunday 27 November 2016 he was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the winner of the Ondo State governorship race. He was sworn in as the governor of Ondo State on 24 February 2017 in Akure, the Ondo State Capital.

Ibukunoluwa Abiodun Awosika is a businesswoman, author, and motivational speaker from Nigeria. Her parents were Mr. Abdulmashood Adekola and Mrs. Hannah Aduke Adekola, and she was born on December 24, 1962. She is the third child of seven and hails from Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

Ibukun attended Methodist Girls' High School in Yaba Lagos for her secondary education after completing her elementary education at St. Paul's African Church Primary School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) before moving on. Her quest for independence allowed her to do this. In 2018, Ibukun Awosika was among five Nigerian entrepreneurs who appeared in the first African version of the Dragon's Den. She also hosts a T.V programme called Business His Way. She received the prestigious International Women's Entrepreneurial Challenge Award (IWEC) that year as the first Nigerian recipient as well as a US Department of State recipient and multiple award-winning businesswoman. She helped co-found the Afterschool Graduate Development Centre in 2011, a career center created to combat the high unemployment rate that existed in Nigeria at the time. After Prince Ajibola Afonja's resignation on September 7, 2015, Ibukun was named First Bank of Nigeria's first female chairman.

How to Calculate the Age Limit for NYSC Mobilisation in 2023

One of the most important factors that determines someone's eligibility to take part in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program is age. Therefore, the primary purpose of this article is to show you how NYSC calculate age limit for mobilization.

Knowing how NYSC calculate age for mobilization is important as it would help you determine your eligibility status using the same method as NYSC.

Certificate of exemption is issued to graduates that are 30 years and above at the point of graduation. So 30 years is the age limit for National Youth Service program.

However, the NYSC exemption should not be taken as a bad omen since Certificate of exemption is equivalent to discharge certificate. Many people even prefer exemption to service.

When Does NYSC Exempt Graduates from Service?

1. Exceeding the Age of Service

When the person exceeds the age of 30 years, or

2. Ex-Military Personnel

If the person has served in the Nigerian military or para-military for one year or more, or

♐ When the person is physically disabled'

NOTE: If you are a part-time graduate (CEP), exclusion letter will be given to you. Note that Exclusion Letter is less than discharge certificate. But certificate of exemption is equal to discharge certificate.

The Purpose of the NYSC

Understanding the purpose of NYSC will help you know why there age limit is placed on the scheme.

NYSC is a scheme established by the Federal Government of Nigeria after the civil war with the primary aim of fostering unity, reconciliation, rebuild and reintegrate with one another to break the hard ice which was formed between Nigerians because of the civil war.

Those eligible for this service are Nigerian youths who graduated from Universities and Polytechnic within or outside Nigeria before the age of 30. It means you are eligible to serve provided you graduated before 30 years.

So, if someone graduated before 30 years, but did not serve because of one reason or the other. Now, the person has attained 40 years, the person is eligible to serve since he/she graduated before 30 years.

How then does NYSC Calculate Age Limit for Mobilisation?

NYSC takes date of birth from information submitted to JAMB, they count starting from the date the person was born to the date he/she graduated from tertiary institution. If the person is above 30 years, as at the time of graduation, a letter of exemption will be issued to the person.

Please note that NYSC is day-sensitive, for example; if you exceed 30 years with one day at the point of graduation, you will be exempted from National Youth Service.

In the past, NYSC picks students date of birth from Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs) but when some schools manipulate age of their graduates, the scheme switched to JAMB for more accurate and reliable information.

If a candidate claims there is a mistake on their Date of Birth as submitted to JAMB, NYSC will confirm it by checking their O level data from WAEC (West African Examination Council.

Note: The date of graduation is officially written on your Degree or HND Certificate. The graduation date is not the date one wrote his final exam or project defence, but the date Degree or HND is awarded.

NYSC usually take 3 Batches every year, Batch A, B and C. If the number of registered graduates is higher than expected for a Batch, NYSC would split the Batch into "Stream 1 & 2' for logistic reasons.

The number may vary from time to time. The direct answer is that there is no exact number, but it is roughly 40,000 graduates for each Batch.

Is there any age limit for NYSC participation?

Yes, the age limit is 30 years. Anyone who exceeds 30 years at the point of graduation will not take part in the National Youth Service Corps but will be awarded a certificate of exemption.

Chief Olayide Owolabi Adelami, mni hails from Owo, Ondo state. He was born over 6 decades ago to the family of Oluka Oribokun by Pa and Mrs Amos Adelami. Adelami graduated from the prestigious Imade College in Owo before proceeding to The Polytechnic, Ibadan for his GCE A level and University of Lagos for his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. He further got an MBA degree from Ogun State University. CAREER After the completion of the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in June 1983, young Adelami was enlisted into Federal Civil Service as an Accountant II in December, 1983. He resumed to the Treasury Department of the Accountant General of the Federation office and in 1988 he was later posted to the National Assembly Provisional Office, Abuja as one of the pioneer staff of the Constituent Assembly which metamorphosed into the present day National Assembly. In the discharge of his duty, Adelami had the singular privilege of setting up the Finance and Accounts Department of the National Assembly as we have come to know it. In 1996, he was invited to help in setting up the Accounts Department of the Petroleum Special Trust Fund. After completion of this tasks, he was also beckoned to serve at the Family Support Trust Fund where, again, he helped set up the Finance and Accounts Department. He headed these departments between 1996 and 2000. It is mention-worthy that the project of National Hospital, Abuja was executed and delivered during Adelami's service period. His sterling performances, years of experience and reputation as an astute manager of resources with enviable integrity saw Adelami being recalled to the National Assembly in 2000 to strengthen the Finance Department. Three years later, he was made the Head of the Finance and Accounts Department. He remained in this position till 2007 when he was confirmed as a Director. The following year, he was nominated for a one year senior management course at the prestigious National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos. After the completion of his course at the Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in 2008, he was assigned a bigger task of pioneering the newly created Department of Procurement and Supplies. Without a single trained staff in procurement processes, Adelami who relishes challenges embarked on the rigorous process of staff training and nurtured the department to an enviable position. In 2014, he was promoted to the position of Secretary (Permanent Secretary), Directorate of Procurement, Estate and Works. A position he held until he was appointed as the Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly. He remained the Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly until his retirement in April 2018. It is worthy of note that Chief Olayide Adelami during his illustrious career used his goodwill and personal influence to attract physical development and impart the lives of Owo community and beyond. His political journey began shortly after his retirement when he was appointed by the presidency as the Coordinator, Presidential Support Committee, Ondo state, whose mandate was to reconcile aggrieved APC members, as well as coordinate the activities of the various support groups across the state for the president's reelection. He worked assiduously against all odds to deliver massive votes for the APC across the state and also ensured the return of the only APC senator in the state from his senatorial district. MEMBERSHIP OF PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS Chief Olayide Adelami, mni is an active member of several professional bodies. The Right of Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria by Omodele Sunkanmi

Persons with Disability have the same rights as other people to take their proper place in society. They should be able to live freely and as independently as possible. This must be the concern of everyone the family, community and all government and non-government organizations.

According to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the following are analysis of some Rights of Persons with Disabilities:

1. Equality and Non-Discrimination

Everyone is equal before and under the law. Everyone is entitled to the equal protection and benefit of the law without discrimination.

2. Women with Disabilities

Women and girls with disabilities experience multiple discrimination. Countries must take all appropriate measures to ensure that women with disabilities are able to fully enjoy their rights and freedoms.

3. Children with Disabilities

Children with disabilities have the same human rights as all other children. The best interests of the child must be a primary consideration in all actions concerning children with disabilities. Children with disabilities have the right to express their views on all matters affecting them.

4. Accessibility

People with disabilities have the right to access all aspects of society on an equal basis with others including the physical environment, transportation, information and communications, and other facilities and services provided to the public.

5. Education

People with disabilities have a right to education without discrimination. Countries must ensure that people with disabilities can access an inclusive, quality and free primary and secondary education in their own community.

6. Work and Employment

People with disabilities have the right to work, including the right to work in an environment that is open, inclusive and accessible. Countries must take appropriate steps to promote employment opportunities and career advancement for people with disabilities.

Our correspondence have a chat with Mr Busari Lateef, the General Secretary of Ondo State Association of Deaf on the Right of of Person with Disability.

Mr Busari Lateef has this to say, " some of the right of Person with are Disability are : right to life, right to be employment, right of freedom, right to accessibility, right to inclusion in government.

He further emphasize that " It's not every right the Person with Disability was given, sometime Person with Disability are being denied.He speak further on what the Government, NGO and all are doing to make sure the right of person with disability are not being tampered with.

In his word, "based on Ondo state, the State government are always inclusive. They provide employment, appointment of political official of PWD and inclusion in every programme.

In conclusion, Mr Busari Lateef advice the government to make sure the right of Person living with disability is not tampered with.

NNI: Can we meet you?

Guest: I'm Apelegan Omotolani Elizabeth, a law graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University. I'm a Christian and here on campus I attend Communion Christian Centre. I'm a very active person, I love to be busy and productive. Adding value is key in whatever I find myself. And, I'm an entrepreneur

NNI: How has Nih Mixes grown over the years?
Guest: Nih Mixes is a fast growing cocktail brand. We make the finest cocktails at simple charges and offer affordable luxury. Nih Mixes clocked one in May 2018 and I can say that it's been awesome all along. Considering the fact that Cocktails are not very known in this part of the country or better put, people around here do not really see cocktails as an essential part of their events and as such, proper orientation must be given to your clients or prospective clients while trying to convince them about your services. I can categorically say that Nih Mixes has given some level of awareness to people in this environ that cocktails are integral part of of any party, especially when you want it to speak class.

NNI: In building a brand and a personality, what challenges have you faced?

Guest: I believe so much in that saying of preserving your name instead of amassing silver and gold. I love my name so much that I wouldn't do anything to soil it. So me being an entrepreneur, I try my utmost best to provide services that cannot be matched elsewhere, I prove to my clients and their guests that the money they paid me, they spent judiciously. You know when a flop comes from my end, the first thing anyone will say is, "you know that Tolani girl, the one that owns Nih Mixes, she's so unprofessional". Such statements hinder the growth of any brand and even soils the name of the owner of the brand. So what I do basically is to meet and surpass the expectations of any one who hires my services so that such person will refer me to others. I believe so much in referrals for any business.
For the challenges, my greatest change so far is transportation. Conveying my tools down to the venue is always very difficult, at times, I'm even discouraged but on such days, I remind myself the reason why Nih Mixes was birthed. Other challenges are petty, like party guests talking without respect to you while you're working, but you know a customer is always right so most times, I just calm them down and continue my work.

NELOC News: Do you intend to practice Law or go the business way?

Guest: Definitely, I'll practice law. It's a childhood dream for me and that dream must be realized. That doesn't stop me from doing business anyway. I'd love to be a renown mixologist and bartender all over the world, along side being a Lawyer, isn't that beautiful?

NELOC News: It is. Is business for you, Nih Mixes or nothing else? Is there any other thing you'd have ventured into?

Guest: I'd like to go into the hospitality industry, not now though. I'd also do well in trading.

NELOC News: On Finance, Capital issues and investor management, How have you matched these in your business?

Guest: Financing is quite difficult owing to the fact that cocktail tools and syrups are quite expensive. But you know nothing is impossible when you're focused. My capital was rather on a very low budget. I expanded with time. Also, I've never had an investor, but I look forward to having one.

NNI: What's the future for Nih Mixes? What should investors expect?

Guest: I'm taking Nih Mixes global. I look forward to having a very big cocktail bar in the big cities across the country. I want Nih Mixes to be a household name. Investors too should be rest assured that their money will be spent wisely and their profits will never be shortchanged.

NELOC News: How do you balanced business with other assignments?

Guest: It's not been very rosy. I mentioned earlier that I love to get busy and be productive. In the real sense, I'm a very busy young lady. I'm actively involved in so many organizations and associations on campus. I also do not joke with church. I have other engagements too and I'm also a law student at that which requires that I read well. I only try to juggle them together. I try not to let one affect the other even though it's almost impossible. I just make sure that premium attention is given to what matters at every point in time.

NELOC News: What's your biggest boom in business and your worst experience so far?

Guest: My biggest boom has always been from referrals. It boosts my brand so much that I have no choice than to deliver. For my worst experience, I can remember lobbying for a particular job for months and eventually, I was not given. It really affected me and weighed me down. I got over it though.

NELOC News: What Advice would you give to Young Entrepreneurs?

Guest: Know your market. A lot of student Entrepreneurs do not know their market which is very inimical to the brand. Knowing your market will avail you the opportunity to give that wonderful service. You should also do not let your business affect your academics. The very first reason why you were sent to school is for you to make good grades, know how to balance it.
Put God first and every other things will fall in place.

Kerux Academic Initiative Hosts Over 130 Youths, Teenagers in 2024 Orientation for New Students

In the last three (3) years, KAI has mentored over 2000 young adults - many of whom are pursuing their educational dreams at prestigious universities within Nigeria while others are venturing into businesses with knowledge, skills and expertise from KAI.

At the 2024 KAI Orientation Programme, the Dean of Students' Affairs at the Delta State College of Education Mosogar (Nigeria) spoke to the new cohort of KAI Mentees on: Secrets to Excelling in your Academic Career. This was a remarkable teaching from the College's Dean of Students' Affairs as he gave the young adults tested and proven principles for excelling in their studies.

A U.S. Professional and friend of KAI also spoke virtually on Zoom, mentoring the teenagers on the place of hard work and absolute trust in God in excelling academically and spiritually. The Founder and Executive Director of KAI, Mr Godspower Oyubu is a Mandela Washington Fellow and Lecturer at Delta State College of Education Mosogar. Godspower was recently selected by the Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Body under the U.S. Department of State as one of the 300 young African Leaders to be part of the membership of the International Leadership Association (ILA) for 2024. The International Leadership Association is the professional home of a global community of leaders and leadership researchers, educators, and development specialists who believe that leadership is the key to a just and thriving future for all people. For 25 years, the ILA has advanced the study and practice of leadership by creating opportunities for members to connect and engage with one another to explore innovative ideas, create new resources, and multiply our collective impact. During his keynote address at the Orientation Programme, Mr Godspower reiterated on the visions and mission of KAI and the significance of collaboration as a tool to achieving these visions. He encouraged new Mentees to be passionate and inquisitive. He described KAI as a citadel of transformational leadership and holistic mentorship. He made it clear that everyone has a place in KAI irrespective of backgrounds, tribes or religious beliefs. KAI is committed to building a more peaceful, inclusive and equitable world for generations to come! Godspower believes everyone has a role to place in birthing the Nation and Continent of our dream! "We can achieve great things together! We can be successful without getting involved in cyber crimes he said." Godspower concluded his address by reminding the teenagers of the educational and leadership Seminar planned for the month of April 2024. This will attract over 500 young adults from within Nigeria and also feature thought leaders within Nigeria, the U.S and the U.K who are friends of KAI. He encouraged everyone to start making preparations towards the upcoming events.

KAI Operation Get Back To School Project

According to UNICEF (2023), Nigeria accounts for 15% of out-of-school children worldwide. Goal four (4) of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focuses on inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting life-long learning opportunities for all. However, in low and middle-income countries, like Nigeria, many children do not have access to quality education.

In Mosogar community, 9 of every 10 teenage boys are into cyber crime, 7 of such are into hard drugs and over 60% of young adults are out of school.

Education must fully assume its central role in giving all children the tools to develop to their full potential, so they become productive adults ready to give back to their communities and break the cycle of poverty through upward socioeconomic mobility.

To curb the challenges confronting students and other young adults in my home community and help them return to school, KAI carried out a project tagged "Operation Get Back To School" targeted at helping 200 youths and teenagers within Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State (Nigeria) from humble backgrounds return to College. The project involved providing free JAMB (Joint Admission and Matriculation Board) registration fee for the students and helping to pay for tuition fee for those with outstanding performance after the Jamb examination.

The NYSC will never initially need to use the date of birth written on your WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB to mobilize you for the service. In the same vein, the corps won't use the date of birth that will be sent by your school, for the senate list, especially if it differs from what they truly want.```

```The corps originally uses JAMB dates of birth of all prospective corp members for the purpose of mobilization. Yes, NYSC collects a few data from JAMB, through the JAMB registration number used while filling your mobilization form online. Among these data is the date of birth.```

Luckily, it doesn't matter if that result was the one you used for your admission or not. What matters is that the result must belong to you and should have the dates of birth you want.
