Bianca Ojukwu, wife of late Biafra leader Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu has reiterated call for the released of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed separatist group, Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), being held by the Muhammadu Buhari regime.Mrs Ojukwu noted that doing so would help resort to peace especially in the South-East geo-political zone adding that “no nation that holds its people hostage can ever have peace.”

The former Nigeria Ambassador to Spain renewed the call on Saturday in Owerri, at the 11th edition of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Memorial Lectures. The memorial event was organised by the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra and Independence Biafra Movement (MASSOB-BIM).

Kanu has been under detention since he was extraordinarily renditioned from Kenya in June 2021 by the federal government. Though the Court of Appeal in October quashed charges preferred against Mr Kanu, the Buhari regime refused to release him and successfully got the court to nullify his freedom.

3 Student Gang-Raped 14 years old school Girl in Ondo

Three teenagers have been arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year-old SSS 1 girl at Akure High School in Akure South local government area of Ondo State.It was gathered that the trio, who are in SSS 2, attend same school with the victim.

The incident reportedly happened on Thursday within the school premises.

It was learnt that the victim went into a nearby bush in the school to defecate and on her way back, the three boys waylaid and raped her.

A reliable source said during the break period of the school, the boys monitored and ambushed the female student at the lonely place within the school.

The girl was reported to have walked into the classroom with blood stain on her uniform.

According to reports, the three friends have been trailing and disturbing the girl in school.

One of the boys was said to have earlier demanded for sex from the girl, but she turned him down.

So, the boy called on his two friends to join in raping her in an isolated place.

The Hope Metro gathered that the boys who have been arrested by men of the state police command, have been taken to Juvenile children correctional centre.

Arsonists Set Ablaze INEC

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ebonyi State, Mrs Onyeka Pauline Ugochi, reported that our Izzi Local Government Area office located in Iboko, was set ablaze this morning.The incident occurred around 10.00am when some unidentified persons set the entire building ablaze.

Although no casualties resulted from the attack, the main building and all the movable and immovable items inside it were destroyed. These include 340 ballot boxes, 130 voting cubicles, 14 electric power generators, large water storage tanks, assorted office furniture and fixtures and yet to be determined quantities of Permanent Voters' Cards (PVCs).

The attention of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies has been drawn to the incident and have commenced investigation.

Sadly, this is the third attack on our Local Government office in less than three weeks following similar attacks on our offices in Ogun and Osun States on 10th November 2022.

Gunmen Declare 10-Day Sit-At-Home In Enugu Communities, Order Markets To Shut Down

The security situation in the Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State appears to be worsening as gunmen have issued a 10-day sit-at-home to mourn in the entire council area.SaharaReporters gathered that the sit-at-home was to mourn their colleagues killed by security agents in the council area.

In a warning issued by the gunmen, they ordered all residents of the area to desist from going to a popular market, “Eke Ozzi” at Ogrute, the headquarters of the council area or face the wrath of the dreaded group which has been wreaking havoc in the council area. The declaration it was gathered has sent residents into a panic.

The hoodlums were said to have started seizing motorcycles with Nigerian Number Plates and also warned school authorities in the council area to dismantle all Nigerian flags hoisted at all secondary and primary schools in the local government. They equally ordered schools using any uniform which has “green and white” colours on it to change to other colours or face the wrath of the dreaded group.

A resident of the local government area who pleaded for anonymity told SaharaReporters that people are being killed almost on a daily basis at the council area.

He said that the recent sit-at-home order came on the heels of renewed onslaught on their members by operatives of Ebubeagu and Nigerian soldiers which resulted in burning some residential houses of some of their leaders at Imufu, Umuagama and Aguibeje communities in the local government area.

Adeleke freezes govt accounts, reverses state name

The newly inaugurated Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has frozen all government accounts in the state.Adeleke directed this in his first executive order upon inauguration on Sunday.

Adeleke, in his speech delivered at the inauguration, alleged that the erstwhile governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola, carried out some actions “maliciously” after he (Adeleke) won the July 16 governorship election, including “hurried” employments without provisions to sustain them.

He claimed these actions were roadblocks channeled at making things difficult in his administration difficult.

Adeleke also reversed the state name from ‘State of Osun’ to ‘Osun State’, saying the former was alien to the constitution.

“My Good People of Osun, since you elected me as your governor on the July 16, 2022, which the Independent National Electoral Commission announced on July 17, 2022, the former Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, maliciously started putting road blocks to make things difficult and almost impossible for the new administration to serve you.

“Mass employment were carried out without budgetary provisions for salary payments for the new employees; even when the state was struggling to pay salaries and deliver other services. Various hurried and criminally backdated contracts were awarded and again without budgetary provisions.

“Appointments of several Obas were hurriedly done without following due process, just to mention a few.

All efforts to get the governor set up a Transition Committee and submit hand-over notes in line with best practices proved abortive.

“It is therefore my desire to ask for your patience and understanding to give my administration a few weeks to review and sort out all the actions and malicious confusions which the immediate past administration has created since July 17, 2022. Those actions were indeed vindictive measures against the people of Osun State for voting them out of office,” Adeleke said.

Giving new orders, he said, “Consequently, I hereby issue the following directives which will be backed up with appropriate Executive orders:

“Immediate freezing of all government accounts in banks and other financial institutions;

“Immediate establishment of a panel to carry out an inventory and recover all government asset.

“An immediate establishment of a panel to review all appointments and major decisions of the immediate past administration taken after July 17, 2022.

An immediate reversal to the constitutionally recognised name of our state, ‘Osun State’. All government insignia, correspondences and signages should henceforth reflect Osun State rather than State of Osun which is unknown to the Nigerian constitution.”

The out-going Governor of Osun State, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola on Saturday disclosed that, his administration is leaving behind a total sum of N14 billion cash in the state coffer for the incoming administration to inherit while a sum of N97 billion had been paid from the total debt inherited in 2018 when he assumed office.Governor Oyetola made the disclosures in his farewell statement to the people of the state, indicating the expiration of his first term in office.

12-Year-Old Boy Kidnaps 3-Year-Old Girl, Demands ₦‎150,000 As Ransom

Police in Bauchi State have arrested a 12-year-old boy for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old.This is contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Bauchi by police spokesman in the state, SP Ahmad Wakil.

He stated that the 12-year-old kidnapped the baby in Magama Gumau community in Toro Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, the suspect lured the victim into an isolated area and placed a telephone call to her father demanding N150,000 as ransom for the captive’s release.

“A discreet investigation revealed that the suspect lured the victim to an isolated place near a football field at Kara Area of Magama Gumau and called the victim’s father on phone and made the demand.

“On hearing the demand, the victim’s father hung up and refused to take subsequent calls.

“After a while, the victim’s father called the suspect and identified him through his familiar voice.

“He called his name, but the suspect kept mute, hung up, swiftly took the girl to her parent’s house where he told the family that he sighted her crying near a football field,’’ SP Wakil stated.

He added that the victim’s family immediately reported the suspect to the police for necessary action.

Wakil stated also that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and said he would have used the ransom money to buy clothes and phones.

“Investigation also showed that the suspect got to know about kidnapping for ransom when some time ago, his friend was kidnapped in Kano State.

“Those who kidnapped his friend were paid ransom before he was released and that was how the suspect learned that money must be paid to set a kidnap victim free,’’ he stated.

The spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this on Twitter.

Posting the photo of the fake medical doctor, Hundeyin wrote;

The Oyo state chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has dared Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to refund the money for party nomination forms to his party aspirants if he had any integrity to match the promise he also made to do same.This was as the ruling PDP stated that Governor Seyi Makinde and the leadership of the party have started refunding all PDP aspirants of their nomination fees starting from all aspirants from the four local governments in Oyo zone as earlier promised, urging Folarin and APC to toe the path of honour and fulfill the promise they made to their Aspirants before the opposition's party primaries.

The Oyo state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Akeem Olatunji, made the disclosure in a press statement on Saturday morning of November 26.

It was maintained in the Oyo PDP statement that integrity, honour and what the party called the 'omoluabi ethos' in Yoruba parlance, are inborn and natural, and can not therefore, be acted by anyone lacking any of them.

Olatunji alleged Folarin of extorting his party Aspirants and candidates before, during, and after APC primaries, wondering why a three term senator would expose what the ruling PDP described as unbridled greed, insatiable hunger for more money to self aggrandize.

Oyo State PDP alleged that the APC governorship candidate was not only a misfit but also a political calamity to the state political landscape as his candidature fails to meet up the requisite qualities expected of an opposition and co-contender.

"The current crop of Oyo APC members are dying in silence, especially Aspirants on the platform of the party because they've been boxed to a corner and have since become victims of Folarin's 'jagba' politics.

"We have on good authority, how Teslim Folarin has used his role as the self imposed leader of Oyo APC to extort Aspirants and candidates before, during, and after its primary elections.

"Some individuals were even extorted to the tune of about 100 million naira simply because they aspire to contest for an elective office on the platform of the opposition party. This is nothing short of highest level of wickedness, callousness, and insensitivity of a self acclaimed opposition party leader.

"How can a man unremorsefully extort his fellow men in the same political party, in what could best be likened to 'daylight political robbery' by a three term senator of the federal republic?

"The beauty of democracy is to have vibrant opposition that will keep government on its toes as well as credible political opponents that would serve as alternatives to the ruling party. That is how democracy evolves but what we unfortunately have here in Oyo state are desperate political merchants hoping to lay their hands on the state's Treasury, and this is why we are very concerned as the ruling party.

"How can such a man with zero integrity and honour, who even without being a governor has started using his 'jagba' role as the Oyo APC governorship candidate in 2023 to extort his fellow party aspirants?

"We have no atom of doubt, that if Folarin ever got a chance to hold the number one office in Oyo for just 24 hours, the senator would not only rule like a draconic emperor, he would be far worse than a military dictator.

"To simply state it mildly, Folarin's candidature has become a source of serious embarrassment to not only the ruling PDP but other opposition parties who have had to deal with such a political personality as Folarin who has zero respect for democratic processes.

"We know that Folarin and his cronies in the opposition party will not do the needful or do the right thing to refund all APC Aspirants that have been extorted because, to them, it's all about how much can be cornered from the system, but in the spirit of 'omoluabi', the senator and Oyo APC should do what Governor Makinde and our party have done.

"We hope that Folarin, if there's any slightest atom of integrity and or honour to his name, will immediately commence refunding of APC Aspirants' money to them as exemplified by Governor Seyi Makinde because it is not a matter of compelling obligation but simply of 'omoluabi'." Oyo PDP stated.

El-Rufai To Makinde : You've been A good Governor, it will be Tough for APC to defeat you

Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, says it would be difficult for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to defeat Seyi Makinde, his Oyo state counterpart, in 2023. El-Rufai spoke on Friday at the commemoration and send-off ceremony organised for Nteranya Sanginga, the outgoing director-general of the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), held at the IITA Conference Centre, Ibadan.

The Kaduna governor said the APC will try its best to unseat his Oyo counterpart but it would be tough because Makinde has governed well.

Both governors recounted how they had an argument during a sitting of the National Executive Council (NEC) on whether to lock down states in the heat of the COVID-19 outbreak in 2019, but resolved to do what they felt was best for their respective states.

“After that debate, I went back to my state and I locked it down. Seyi went back to his state and did what he called a partial lockdown, but he locked himself down because he got COVID,” el-Rufai said.

“The beauty of Nigeria is its diversity. In my state, I did what I felt was the right thing and he did what was best for his state.

“We’ll do our best to defeat you. But I know it will be tough because you’ve been a good governor.”

The governor lauded Sanginga for the courage and hard work he put into transforming IITA.

“As Nigerians, we’re very grateful to you for what you have done here because each and every state in Nigeria is a beneficiary of the groundbreaking research that you have done,” he said.

“Both of you (Sanginga and Akinwumi Adesina of AfDB) are breaking ground along with others and you give our children hope that Africa can be anything it wants to be if it works hard.”

Also speaking, Makinde said it was exciting to have worked with IITA on several projects in line with his administration’s vision to expand the state’s economy through agribusiness and to encourage youths to exploit the opportunities in the sector.

“There are so many lessons to learn from this great man because of his brilliance, passion and leadership style. We have worked together on several projects and I have no fears or worries about letting IITA lead projects such as the STEP,” Makinde said.

“He asked me to come down to Fasola and I saw the pictures of ‘before and after’ and the students fried chin-chin, baked cake, which got me thinking that I used to have the same opportunity at Bishop Philips Academy but we lost it along the line.

“So, I asked him to extend the programme to all the senatorial districts in the state and we picked one school per senatorial district; and now, the programme has spread to 13 schools in Oyo state.

“This is the electioneering period, and I want to use this opportunity to tell the people of Oyo state that if I am given another opportunity to serve, we will take the Start Them Early Programme to more schools in the state.”

The event also witnessed the launching of Sanginga’s autobiography, ‘Leadership in African Agriculture’.

Other dignitaries present at the event include Akinwumi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank (AfDB); Rashidi Ladoja, former governor of Oyo state, and representatives of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ooni of Ife.

Secret Police, DSS Arrests Nigerian Student For Tweeting That Aisha Buhari Doubled In Size after eating Nigeria’s Money

According to Peoples Gazette, the student, Aminu Adamu Muhammed, had in June 2022 posted on Twitter that Mrs Buhari had suddenly added massive weight after taking part in plundering the nation’s meagre resources as the masses endured hardship under her husband’s brutal regime.In the June 8, 2022, tweet, Muhammed chastised the First Lady in Hausa: “Su mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi”, which could be translated as “the mother has got fatter by eating masses’ money.”

Muhammed’s friends said he made the post because he was frustrated about the prolonged strike by universities across the country. The strike, which started in February 2022, ended in October after eight months of idleness.

From a near-athletic build when her husband was seeking office in 2015, Buhari’s stature has recently ballooned, fuelling speculations at a point that she might be ill or pregnant. She denied both claims.

A family source said Muhammed, 23, was picked up by officers on November 8 on the campus ground of Federal University Dutse, Jigawa. The student was reportedly subjected to severe beating by the officers following his arrest at about 12:00 noon.

He was summarily transferred to Abuja and was briefly allowed to contact his father Adamu Shalele Azare about his location, which the family thought was a police station.

Peoples Gazette was later told that the State Security Service was behind Muhammed’s arrest. Since the 1990s, the secret police has maintained a record of repression and deployment of brutality to enforce regime preservation.

It was not immediately clear if the family has been able to contract a lawyer over the matter.

A spokesman for the SSS did not immediately return a request seeking comments on Saturday afternoon.

School authorities, including the environmental technology department where Muhammed studies, declined comments.

The incident marked the latest manifestation of assault on fundamental rights that has characterised Muhammadu Buhari’s regime. Since 2015, thousands of Nigerians have been arrested, jailed or exiled over speeches deemed unflattering towards the government or its allies.

Like her husband, Aisha Buhari has repeatedly targeted journalists for harassment by federal agents.

Still, the administration has continued to downplay its role in deterioration of human rights since 2015, saying most of the attacks were carried out by rogue officers who were not necessarily delegated by the president or his cabinet members and other appointees.

The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has mocked the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party, Peter Obi.Tinubu lashed out at his competitors during an engagement with Niger Delta stakeholders in Gbaramatu, in Delta State on Friday.

Tragedy struck in Ikare-Akoko in the Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State, following the killing of two security guards by unknown gunmen.The gunmen invaded a state government-owned Mimiko market and NASFAT Schools in the community, killing the two security guards and dismembered their bodies, leaving their remains in the pool of blood.

According to a source, the bandit who attacked the two places in the middle of the night and said “the deceased were found in the pool of blood this (Saturday) morning.

The gunmen killed one of the guards and cut off his head and placed the head beside his body.

“The other man hand was cut, after he had been killed, the dismembered hand was also placed beside him. The killers did not take anything from the deceased before they left the scene.”

The source added that the way and manner the suspected bandits carried out the attack raised the suspicion of ritual killing.

It was learnt that it was men of Nigeria Police from Ikare Akoko Division that took the corpse of the deceased to the mortuary of the Ondo State Specialists Hospital. Ikare Akoko.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Funmi Odunlami, said investigation had commenced into the incident, assuring that the killers would be arrested.

“We have commenced investigation into the incident, and the criminals will soon be arrested” the PPRO said.

PDP Cautions CJN Over Comments on Party's Internal Affairs, says Dabbling Into Politics Unacceptable

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expresses concern over comments credited to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, wherein he was reported to have dabbled into the internal affairs of the PDP.While the PDP has utmost respect for the Institution of the Judiciary and Judicial Officers, our Party rejects any action or utterance by any Judicial Officer, let alone the CJN, that undermines the integrity of the Judiciary.

By delving into the internal affairs of the PDP at a public event in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Thursday, November 24, 2022 where he was reported to have made reference to the political activities of some PDP governors, which comment is viewed to be encouraging division in our Party, the PDP posits that the CJN’s action is unacceptable and inconsistent with his status as the head of the Judicial arm of government.

 

Our Party is worried that such partisan comment by the CJN is in violation of his Oath of Office as the head of the country's Judicial arm which is expected to be impartial and non-partisan.

 

Irrespective of the circumstance or situation, the CJN is expected to be circumspect at all times and avoid partisan actions and utterances that are likely to erode the institutional integrity of the Judiciary and bring it to disrepute especially as the nation prepares for the 2023 general elections.

In a Federal Republic such as Nigeria, with a Constitutional Separation of Powers, the Judiciary is entrusted with the responsibility of interpretation of the laws and as such should be seen to be neutral at all times and endeavour to interpret and review the laws in the context of the case and controversy of the parties before it.

Nigerians expect the CJN, with his experience, to be in a position to advice, rebuke and punish members of the Judicial arm who get entangled in the politics
