Ever met a slow writer who outshines everyone else in examinations and wondered his secret?

Writing is the use of written words to express opinions or ideas. Writings can therefore be done quickly or slowly. Dr. Marc Seifer, a graphologist and handwriting expert who wrote The Definitive Book of Handwriting Analysis in 2008, shared some of the top ways writing by hand can help our brains beyond just dotting our i's and crossing our t's.

More specifically, Writing a calming sentence is a form of Graphotherapy. As the act of writing is therapeutic because through writing “we exteriorize in words”, thoughts, wishes and emotions, which we “liberate”, Graphotherapy is a means of making conscious alterations in your handwriting in order to effect desired subconscious changes in your personality. Jotting down a sentence like, "I will be more peaceful" at least 20 times per day can actually have an impact, especially on individuals with attention deficit disorder. This actually calms the person down and retrains the brain.

In his preface to Daybreak (1887), German philosopher and philologist, Friedrich Nietzsche recommended the practice of slow reading. According to him, "it is not for nothing that I have been a philologist, that is, a teacher of slow reading; in the end I also write slowly. Nowadays it is not only my habit, it is also to my taste -a malicious taste, perhaps? - no longer to write anything which does not reduce to despair every sort of man who is "in a hurry." For philology is that venerable art which demands of its votaries one thing above all: to go aside, to take time, to become still, to become slow.

For this reason, it is more necessary than ever today (in the midst of an age of "work,") that is to say, of hurry, of indecent and perspiring haste, which wants to "get everything done" at once, including every old or new book: this art does not so easily get anything done, it teaches to read well, that is to say, to read slowly, deeply, looking cautiously before and aft, with reservations, with doors left open, with delicate eyes and fingers. The WhatsApp Messenger is a mobile application released in 2009. It was founded by Jan Koum and Brian Actom but is now owned by Facebook. Since it's inception in 2009, WhatsApp has grown so popular that five out of every 10 mobile phone owners make use of the app. The app has been a massive success due to its ease of use and the fact that it supports instant messaging. Over the years, WhatsApp has been as secure as possible but it now seems like there is a problem. This security problem was announced by Whatsapp. According to WhatsApp there is a security flaw in the app which allows attackers install spyware in the mobile phones of their targets.

Now, for anyone who is adept with technology, this is a quite serious problem. We all know that WhatsApp is linked to the lives of different people. This means that if any hacker is able to gain access to the WhatsApp application on your mobile phone, any information sent via WhatsApp on your phone may be at risk. Yes, it is true that WhatsApp messages remain encrypted and this means that the messages can only be decrypted by the receiver. However, the information in messages can still be accessed before or after they are decrypted. This basically means that the information can be accessed on either the phone of the sender or the receiver. This makes the security leak as dangerous as ever.

In truth, a lot of credit should be given to WhatsApp for all their efforts to stifle the activities of this attackers. It must be said that the threat has been managed to a minimum. The possibility of a hack still brings the question to mind; is WhatsApp really safe?

The Bloggers' Hub which held on the 10th of November, 2018 at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife had in presence, notable participants across faculties and departments of the Obafemi Awolowo University and its environs. The facilitators, Mr Farombi Oluwaseun and Mr. Cephas Oluwaseun were in high codes as they taught through the sessions with much skill.

Mr Farombi Seun, popularly known as Babafaros for his social media exploits and his affiliation with the largest and most widely read news agency on the Obafemi Awolowo University campus, OAUPEEPS discussed salient points on social media and how it links up to the Blogosphere. He exposed Bloggers to understanding the times for broadcast and social media sleep.

Mr. Cephas also discussed issues on digital marketing, Google Adsense and the basic monetization issues that bloggers face today.

The Bloggers Hub ended with an award ceremony for excellent bloggers who have paid their dues to the teeming audience that grace their blogs. The Awards followed a voting session online a few weeks back amongst other criteria for selection.
