2022 UTME: “Exams would not be Rescheduled for Any Reason” – JAMB Tells Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said that the 2022 United Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will not be rescheduled for whatever reasons.

The Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Mr Fabian Benjamin gave the hint in a statement on Saturday while announcing that the slips for the examination scheduled for Friday May 6 to Saturday May 14 are now available for printing.

While emphasising on the fact that the 2022 UTME would not be rescheduled "for whatever reason", the spokesman also reminded candidates that the ban on prohibited items was still in force.

The prohibited items include flash drives, smart watches, calculators, recorders, mobile phones, spy reading glasses and jewellery among others.

Candidates would be checked in with the Biometric Verification Machine (BVM) in line with the "No biometric verification, no examination" policy.

Mr Benjamin further advised them to prepare ahead and stay close to their examination venues.

"If possible, they should pay a prior visit to their centres before the date of the examination", he said.

Governor Sanwo Olu Presents Nomination, Interest Forms to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu

The Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo Olu, has presented his nomination and expression of interest form to the National Leader of the party. According to a post via his social media handles, he aptly said "I presented the nomination and expression of interest forms to our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Hours earlier, the form was bought on his behalf by Honourable James Faleke, and handed over to the Governor, at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

Sanwo Olu expressed his heartfelt regard, that the presentation signifies the beginning of a historical journey. In his words, "the presentation of these forms signifies the beginning of a historical journey and the birth of a new dawn in the political landscape of our dear state and country Nigeria." He further said, "With the best of intentions, and a conscientious heart, we say thank you to the leadership and members of our party, The All Progressives Congress (APC), the good people of Lagos State, and Nigeria as a whole."

New Man Movement Organises 2022 Edition of Gospel Writing Contest

The New Man Movement, in a press release on its website, dated 31st January, 2022 has officially announced a Call for Submissions into the New Man Gospel Writing Contest.

The 2022 edition of the writing contest which has held yearly since 2016 is a gospel writing contest where creative writers across the genres of poetry, drama, prose and article writing are given a space to show their literary expertise.

Nelson Vincent Ayomitunde, President of the New Man Movement revealed through the release on the website that the writing contest has evolved to recognise the efforts and excellence of Christian writers as well as showing them to the world thus, propagating the gospel through creative writing.

The New Man writing contest which is in its sixth year is a fully gospel writing contest with the theme, Burning Altars which is taken from the Bible book of Leviticus 6:12.

According to the Press release, entries are open to all Christians and true believers without restrictions to age, race, nationality or location. Submission of entries into the New Man Writing Contest is also free.

Entries into the writing contest are expected to be creatively written in line with the general theme. These entries can be in form of Prose/short story, Poetry, Drama or Essay/Articles All entries are required to be properly typed in Microsoft Word(and uploaded to the submission portal via the ministry's website.

The press release also indicated that participants in the New Man Gospel Writing Contest are entitled to submit a maximum of two entries ONLY. Meanwhile, the contest is open for submissions from January 31st till March 11th, 2022.

Apostle Elijah Olopade heals man with COVID 19

Another Popular cleric in Ondo State, Apostle Olopade Elijah Oluwatosin, who is the lead pastor of the House of Encounters International Ministries, has called on the government and the general public to permit him into isolation centers to pray for people with COVID-19 symptoms. Apostle Elijah stated that he already prayed for a case which now tests negative as a testimony. This is coming after Apostle Johnson Suleiman of the Omega Fire Ministries made the same declaration of healing COVID-19 patients in a Sunday service video.

In an official statement released via his social media handle, Apostle Elijah Olopade said:

"In case you have anyone with the Covid-19 symptoms, or you know any isolation center that will permit me to come pray, please send a text or call me directly on +234(0)9069652349."

According to the cleric, he is on the search for such cases to prove the healing power of God at work. In his words, "To God's glory, I've been able to pray for a case. God healed him and the symptoms stopped. So I'm looking for more cases."

On Sunday, 23rd August, Life coach, Adeola Abayomi Della hosted children of the Covenant Orphanage Home to a party in celebration of her 22nd birthday.

The party which held following the COVID-19 guidelines was sponsored by friends and family to ensure that the children, who have been at the home since the pandemic, were brought under an atmosphere of love and extreme happiness.

The Learnaholics Academy (TLA) Africa Launches Women In Leadership Scholarship, Seeks Women Representation

The Learnaholics Academy (TLA) Africa has launched its Women in Leadership Scholarship for Young African Women. It is a fully funded and strict application scholarship program for Young African Women who are passionate about learning, growing and leading.

According to Deborah Benjamin, Spokesperson of the Women In Leadership Scholarship Board and Director, TLA School of Leadership in her welcome address during an online Press Briefing to highlight the purpose of the program, the prospects for African women and the society and the progress in planning, she mentioned that the Women In Leadership Program is an highlight of the School of Leadership, a subset of The Learnaholics Academy.

The programme was birthed to raise African women who are inspired, knowledgeable and passionate enough to take on Leadership roles in the social and corporate space as well as represent the female gender equally in all sectors of Impact and development.

It is an annual conference that trains women who are 18 years and above from across Africa, on corporate governance, Community Leadership and pro-activity.

The program is scheduled to hold for five weeks in a closed WhatsApp group and facilitated by seasoned Social Entrepreneurship and Leadership Coaches and experts.

The Learnaholics Academy is a personal and professional development oriented institution, established to raise the bar in helping people create values that shall propel their personal and professional life. The Academy adopts both physical and electronic classroom learning mechanisms to accommodate prospective students far and near. The Women In Leadership program was proposed on the 1st April 2020 and was subjected to scrutiny until it was approved for implementation. The Academy's Centre for Counselling and Human Development (CCHD) and the School of Leadership was directed to manage the program until a Board was formed on the 8th of April 2020 to manage the program.

The Board is an 11-man membership with 7 females and 3 males. According to Mr Tunbosun, the females serve the Implementation unit of the Board while the Males Monitor and Evaluate its activities

The members of the Board are Abimbola Dasola (Board Chairperson), Abayomi Adeola (Deputy Board Chairperson), Adeleye Deborah (Board Secretary-General) and Benjamin Deborah (Board Spokesperson). Other Distinguished Members of the Implementation Unit of the Board are Faith, Adeosun Eniola Mary and Doherty Precious.

Also, the Adhoc Members in charge of Monitoring & Evaluation are Mr. Essang Rawlings Myles, Mr. Olalekan Olatunbosun , Mr. Ajani Oluwakayode and Mr. Yusuf Olamilekan

According to reports from the press briefing, E-application forms for the Scholarship opened from 13th May - 23rd May 2020 and later extended it till 7th June 2020 with applications from across the continent including Africans in Diaspora. Applications were recorded from countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Trinidad and Tobago, Republic of Benin, Afghanistan, Netherlands, Bangladesh, among others with about 75% of the application from Nigeria.

In review of the application results, 49% of the applicants hold leadership positions, 49.8% of the applicants do not hold leadership positions (but plan to) and only 1.2% of the applicants do not hold a leadership position and do not plan to.

A deeper review of applications shows that, most women in leadership are not necessarily there because they want to, many of them just want to prove the male wrong about their perception of them in leadership while some just want to challenge the status quo. Also, the fear of discrimination holds many of them back from attempting leadership in a male-dominated society.

According to Mr Olalekan Olatunbosun, ''it is hoped that at the end of the program, a non-toxic confidence is instilled in them to build effective leadership consciousness in them.''

The Director also mentioned that the training content was designed to visit the history of black women in leadership and peculiar problems they have faced as these problems are intertwined in contemporary leadership efforts of women,

The women in leadership Scholarship will also cover Business, Politics, and other areas women can be adopted into leadership.

TLA Africa started in September 1st 2017 with over 3,000 students and have organized several trainings and certified about 289 persons with Certificate on Proficiency. About 418 persons have received badges and certificate of participation in various short crash courses. The organisation has also organized physical trainings at Ijebu Ode, Ago Iwoye, Ile Ife, Ifo and Lagos while her online classroom is specially hosted at www.thelearnaholicsacademy/eclassroom for global participation.

The Learnaholics Academy functions with School of Law and ethics, School of Health, School of Tech and ICT, School of Leadership and School of personal development. On the restrictions to Africa, Mr Tunbosun restated that Non-Africans CAN NOT APPLY.
